What Our Clients Say

Fantastic spot in Lusaka! Whenever I’m in town, I try to stop by at least once a week. The front desk team at the gallery are always incredibly warm and welcoming. The gallery space is consistently well curated, and sometimes you even have the chance to bump into the artists behind the pieces. I couldn’t recommend this place more! Plus, the cafe is excellent, 10/10 cappuccinos!

Best gallery around and great service. I bought two sculptures. One arrived broken as it had been poorly packaged. They had insured the package with DHL and were very responsive in seeing that I got a full refund. Highly recommend.

One of the most beautiful art selections I have seen in a long time. 37D is a truly unique place where art lovers can discover wonderful paintings by local artists.
Thank you, Owen, for making us feel so welcome.

What a wonderful art gallery; featuring a variety of amazingly talented Zambian artists’ works, mostly paintings and wood sculptures. An explosion of color, creativity, and messages. The cafe and outdoor seating area invite you to linger as you think about which pieces to take home with you. A must-see stop for any visit to Lusaka.

About - The Start foundation
The Mbunda Tribe

Mbunda Masks

With influence from the Chokwe tribe, the Mbunda masks are made in the remote area of the Western Zambian and Angolan border by the Mbunda tribe. These ceremonial masks are hand crafted out of lightweight local tree called Mongongo, a fast-growing sustainable tree which establishes easily in the sandy soil. Often found growing along seasonal waterways, this unthreatened species of tree grows in abundance making it an easy wood for the craftsman.
